Rod Obbink - 1978 Peterbilt

This is a very cool looking 1978 Peterbilt set up! Yes it’s a transfer dump and the first ever on the site but it will not be the last. We met Rod Obbink at the 2007 Waupun Truckin Show  this year, and yes this truck caught our eye from the start of the show. It was great to talk with Rod and let him tell us about his beautiful truck and yes believe it or not he works this 78 Pete. He owns a  custom home design and construction business in Macatawa,MI , and uses this truck to haul materials on jobsites.

The detail is outrageous on this truck from the paint (Pearl white and Purple Metallic) to the last bit of detail on the interior. The truck is all original and has some special features such as the air cleaner intake tubes,  custom grille bars, and toolboxes. The transfer trailer and box are custom painted to match, and it also is dripping in chrome and stainless accents. The outside is outstanding!

The interior is completely customized. It has the corvette dash with a little extra! Custom antique style white faced gauges, and all the extras to complete the dash. It has a custom wood floor the is matched almost perfect to the dash panels, custom designed purple interior panels, and door trims. One of the neatest things I noticed was the control box for the dump and the transfer unit. He had tools for the levers. A hammer, and a couple of wrenches, and it looked real cool.

After spending the week at the show with Rod and his helper, we  wrapped up Waupun and moved on to the next show. We figured we would have to share this truck with the gang on the site! Thanks to Rod for letting us show his piece of Peterbilt Class!
